Is Posting About Religion on LinkedIn Inappropriate?
1 min read

LinkedIn July 2020

From time to time, I come across comments from people annoyed by religions related posts.

They argue that LinkedIn is a work-related platform. So religious quotations or posts don’t have a place here.

I don’t think LinkedIn is the right platform for religious debates.

But when people express the religious beliefs that inspire them in life, I like to know about them.

I worked with people from Irland, England, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Russia, Albania, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, India, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, China, Japan, Korea, Australia, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Mali, Ethiopia, Canada, US…And I’m sure I forgot some.

From my experience, when people don’t get along, it’s not because of their beliefs but because of their character.

More we knew about our differences, the closer we become, and the workplace benefits from it.

As employers, colleagues, neighbors, or citizens of the world, we’ll do better work knowing about each other than if we put barriers and rules on our interactions.
